CHRISTKINDL ABEND, EVENING OF THE CHRISTCHILD

Mission Statement: To present an Advent evening event for parishioners, including their friends and neighbors, to focus on the birth of Jesus Christ.

Parishioners are encouraged to participate in this ministry in a variety of ways:

As Volunteer Coordinator

Duties:  Recruit volunteers; schedule and contact volunteers for assisgnment, time, and location; send thank you notes to all volunteers.

Time Commitment:  Preparation takes place in October and November for middle of December event.

Special Skills:  Desire to work with others; ability to make a schedule.

As Costume Coordinator

Duties:  Maintain shepherd costumes for the photo booth; make sure costumes are hung and ready for each evening of the event; make arrangements for costumes to be washed, repaired, or ironed, as needed; return costumes in tidy manner to storage bins for use following year.  

Time Commitment:  Preparation takes place in October and November for middle of December event.

Special Skills:  Desire to work with others; attention to detail.

As a Volunteer

Duties:                 

• Angel – greet and direct people attending the event. (outdoor)
• In Hospitality – prepare tables for light supper.
• Wardrobe Consultants – help people get their 1^st century costume on and take pictures.
• Seamstress – cut out and sew costumes.
• Shepherd – accompany the sheep and goats at the outdoor nativity. (outdoor)
• Light for the World – help people light a candle of hope. (outdoor)
• Stage Hand – help with the “behind the scenes” work. (outdoor)
• In Set Up and/or Take Down – string thousands of lights, put up stable and canopy frame for lights. (outdoor)

Time Commitment: As little as one hour on one evening of the event.

Special Skills:  Desire to work with others.
