You can live each day feeling…

Loved

          Forgiven

                    Hopeful

                            Strengthened

You can live each day feeling Forgiven.

Jesus Christ knew we were sinners when he went to the cross. We read in St. Paul’s letter, “But God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Pope Francis says in The Joy of the Gospel, “The salvation which God offers us is the work of his mercy. No human efforts, however good they may be, can enable us to merit so great a gift.” (112) “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you; it is a gift of God; not from works, so no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9.

The New Testament repeatedly reminds us of God’s promise to forgive. “If we acknowledge our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from every wrongdoing.” 1John 1:9 The Sacrament of Reconciliation provides a wonderful opportunity for us to do this. Pope Francis adds, “God never tires of forgiving us; we are the ones who tire of seeking his mercy.” (3) Joy of the Gospel.

By his suffering, Jesus Christ has canceled out our sins as Ephesians 1:7 states, “In him we have redemption by his blood, the forgiveness of transgressions, in accord with the riches of his grace.” God’s gift of salvation has lifted the burden of sin off our shoulders and placed it on the Cross of Christ.

The Acts of the Apostles (2:21) makes it clear that “Everyone shall be saved who calls on the name of the Lord.”

Ephesians 2:8-9
