Draw your strength from the Lord

You can live each day feeling…

Loved
          Forgiven
                    Hopeful
                            Strengthened

The Scriptures encourage us to draw our strength from God. The prophet Isaiah (40:31) states, “They that hope in the Lord will renew their strength …. They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint.”

When we become fearful at what lies ahead, lean on Jesus. Count on his strength. Quietly and confidently repeat to yourself the words St. Paul wrote to the Philippians (4:13), “I have the strength for everything through him who empowers me.”

Jesus promises to be there when we need him every minute of every hour, 365 days a year. God says, “I will never leave you or abandon you.” (13:5) and the writer of Hebrews concludes that we can say with confidence: “The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?” Hebrews 13:5-6.

Regardless of what lies ahead in this life, we don’t face it alone. We don’t have to rely on our own strength. Jesus is with us. “I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.” John 16:33

Jesus waits for us with open arms. Find rest in his loving embrace. “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

As Christians, the Holy Spirit dwells inside us. Romans 8:11 affirms, “The Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you.” We can trust the Holy Spirit to look forward through our day and strengthen us to meet all of the challenges headed our way.
